Rep. Hinchey - President Bush Let Osama Bin Laden Escape on Purpose to Justify the War in Iraq

Rep. Maurice Hinchey (D-NY) was on MSNBC today discussing the war in Iraq. Hinchey made a claim that not only did President Bush let Osama Bin Laden escape, he did so to justify a declaration of war against Iraq. Here was his quote:

"That was done by the previous administration because they knew very well that if they would capture al-Qaeda, there would be no justification for an invasion in Iraq. That's what they were focused on."

David Shuster questioned whether or not Hinchey really supported this bold accusation but the Congressman stood beside his claim. Shuster said that this theory will "strike a lot of people as crazy". Hinchey fired back stating that he believes it people will find this point to be accurate.

There are a lot of questions regarding the war in Iraq and whether or not the Bush administration crossed some huge lines. Can't we just have a complete investigation into of all of these events and if crimes were indeed commited then deal with them properly. That is about as likely as the birthers dropping the Obama citizenship argument.
