Steve Schmidt, a former McCain campaign strategist, was interviewed by Anderson Cooper on 60 Minutes Sunday. The main topic of discussion was Sarah Palin and her choice as John McCain's running mate. This interview was conducted in order to help promote a new book coming out titled "Game Change" that talks about 2008 election. There were some interesting claims that Schmidt made, mainly regarding the Alaskan Governor's ignorance and lack of a vetting process. Apparently, Palin's background check consisted of a lawyer doing some quick searches on Google.
Some of the more interesting points brought up by Schmidt was just how ignorant Palin was and how much tutoring was required. From not understanding why were in war with Iraq, to believing Saddam Hussein was behind 9/11 and even confusion on North and South Korea, it is amazing that Palin actually had a chance to be the Vice President of the United States. In her defense, Schmidt did say she was a very quick study.
