In the wake of Google's OS announcement, it appears that Microsoft has responeded to the the treat. Microsoft has announced that the newest version of Office, 2010, will be available free online. This is a gamble by Microsoft as it's Office line is a huge product line for them. This is an obvious attempt to kill Google Docs and stay remain on top in the productivity arena.
Google and Microsoft battling is only going to be good for the consumer. I am curious how all this will play out. Microsoft is definitely being open minded as the online version will support Safari and Firefox as well. I guess this time they realized the entire Internet does not run Internet Explorer.
