A man who was caught in a burglary was shot by a Baltimore police officer. Michael Quarles was a suspect in a convenience store robbery when he lunged at an officer with a screwdriver. The cop then shot Quarles and was pronounced dead by the arriving medics. About 30 minutes, after the medics had already left the scene, the police noticed Quarles moving around on the floor of the store. The suspect is now in the hospital in critical condition.
I am not sure how a medic doesn't identify whether a person is alive or dead. I am definitely no expert on medicine, but this seems like a decent thing for a medic to determine. If Quarles does indeed live, it is pretty certain he will have his charges dropped.
