A man in New Zealand was tired of his pet dog so he decided to do the only logical thing to get rid of the animal - eat him for dinner. The man was originally from Tonga where eating dogs is not uncommon. In fact, it is seen as a delicacy. So, when the police arrived they found the body of a Staffordshire terrier sitting in a barbeque pit. Since the man killed the dog swiftly and painlessly, no charges were filed since that is legal in New Zealand. The dog was killed by being hit in the head with a hammer and then it's throat was slit. Sounds pretty damn humane to me!
I understand there are vast differences in culture throughout the world, and this guy probably thought he was doing nothing wrong. I couldn't imagine having a pet and living near him though. Every time I saw him outside eating a hamburger I would look to see if Fluffy was still running around my house. Then again, we could send this guy to Georgia where he could have a feast on this pack of dogs. Two birds with one stone.
