Stephen Colbert took on separation of church and state in The Word segment last night. This topic came up from a man currently battling to get an 8 foot cross removed from the Mojave Desert that was put their to honor World War I veterans.

Justice Scalia disagreed with the fact that the cross should be removed from the desert stating that a cross represents all that have fallen regardless of religion. Colbert agreed with this fact claiming:

"The cross represents everybody. Christians and people that are going to hell."
